FIRST DAY HERO

Lt. Aaron Allan, Indiana Southport Police Department

Lt. Aaron Allan of the Indiana Southport Police Department was honored to serve his Community with 17+ years in Law Enforcement and 6 of those with Southport PD.  Taking part in the Trooper Bartram Christmas for Kids every December was another way he gave back to those who were in need of a hand up.  Aaron had fun with the kids, hanging candy canes on his ears, giving piggyback rides, while zipping the shopping cart in and out of isles! He really enjoyed helping them find exactly what they needed and putting smiles on their faces.  Aaron was a big softy when it came to helping those in need, which earned him the Department nickname “Teddy Bear”.  Sadly 2016 would be the last year he would participate in Christmas for Kids, Lt. Allan was shot and killed in the Line of Duty July 27, 2017.  His family is proud of the life Aaron lived and the legacy he continues to leave behind.  It’s an honor to have Lt. Aaron Allan added to The Trooper Bartram Foundation Christmas for Kids event, his servant heart continues on in spirit.

FIRST DAY HERO INITIATIVE

#FirstDayHero

Aaron's family and friends will never be able to demonstrate what he meant to them and to his Community, his servant's heart was much bigger than words could ever explain.  Aaron's widow, Stacy Allan wanted a way to share with the World a feel-good initiative in Aaron's memory; to show others how important it is to be present for our children and not just on big days in their life, but every day. To serve as a Hero to our kids by just being there for them.  Aaron's passion for those in need and how he managed to always be present for his son was important to him.

In Memory of Lt. Allan and his family’s sacrifice, we ask that you take a moment to be present for your child on the first day of school, just as Aaron did the day his life was selfishly taken on July 27th, 2017.

No matter the grade, will you join us in sending your child off to school on their first day. Whether it’s walking them to the bus stop, the schoolhouse front door or to the car. Snap a picture of your special moment much like Lt. Allan’s, upload it to Facebook with words of encouragement and use the hashtag #firstdayhero

When the world needs it the most, all of our children deserve the time and a hero to look up.
